Clothes. Exercising is—quite frankly—a workout; there’re no two ways about it. Your body sweats when you exercise because you’re pushing its limits. If possible, you should wear cotton-based or compression clothing.

As a rule of thumb, you want to wear loose-fitting tops so that you’re not restricted in your movement; however, don’t wear shirts that are excessively baggy as they can get in the way of your workout. What about sleeveless tops versus a T-shirt? That’s up to you. Wear a long-sleeved shirt with shorts if that works for you. Any combination will do as long as your clothing does not compromise movement. At the end of the day, dress comfortably for Decatur fitness health. Shoes. This varies on what workout you’re doing. You might be better off on some exercises with ankle support, but other workouts might not be suitable for high-tops. For example, if you’re an avid runner who plays basketball, you’ll want two different pairs of shoes for the two activities; basketball requires more side-to-side movement while running is usually straight. Lightweight shoes are great, but—depending on the exercise—you might need heavier shoes. Use your best judgment.

Be mindful of what kind of socks you wear with your shoes. If you’re doing an exercise that requires a lot of lower body movement, a pair of socks that reduces friction is idyllic so that you don’t get blisters. Make sure that you get a pair that absorbs moisture well. Thin, nylon socks probably won’t work well for any exercise.

Accessories. What accessories you’d want to sport is up to you, but we can point you in the right direction. If you’re to be lifting weights, you might want to consider sport gloves to change your grip and lessen your chance of getting blisters. If you’re a techy and like to track your workouts, Fitbit could be a great fit for you. There’re myriad fitness accessories available, so don’t let them distract you. Use them as tools to reach your goal.
